SO SMITTEN.

SMIT·TENS (noun) = SCARF + MITTENS.

I taught myself to knit.  I only learned 2 stitches, knit + purl.
But that's all you need to know to make this cozy scarf!

Pattern:
  3 stitches x 4 rows = one checkerboard box.
♥  Alternate blocks of purl/knit to form checkerboard pattern.
♥  Size scarf accordingly...
♥  (2) yarn balls w/ size 10 needles.
I made my own buttons (wood hearts, orange oil/beeswax).

Tips:
The pockets on this scarf is a 5 x 5 checkerboard.  (If that gives you any clue to how to size the scarf).  Actual measurements will depend on the type yarn.  My purple scarf is ~5'-0" (wingspan length).  The gray one (above) is 6 ft. long, and will wrap around the neck once and hang down to hands-in-pocket length.  Sized for men.  (see more pics it here).

I intended this to be a birthday gift for my sister... but 3 months lapsed by and it's +100 degree weather outside. Oops. Sorry sister, maybe next yr... or Christmas.

I added a hood on this one for extra flair. I think it came out cute!
